Meet the Founders of Saunassa - Newquay’s Community Nordic Spa

We’re Derry and Zoey, co-founders of Saunassa. Our mission is simple: to make sauna culture accessible, affordable, and all about community wellbeing.

Derry’s background is carpentry. He’s faced his own mental health challenges and found sauna to be a powerful tool for healing. That’s why he wanted to create a place where others can find calm and relief too. He’s also the tech and sauna builder, making sure everything’s safe, warm, and working just right.

Zoey grew up in Newquay and has a real passion for bringing people together and helping them feel better. With years of experience in hospitality and wellbeing, she’s the one keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes - whether that’s managing the spa, connecting with guests, or making sure every visit feels special.

We believe in the power of heat, cold, and rest - it’s about more than wellness, it’s recovery and connection. Saunassa was built by us with care, grit, and a shared love of sauna culture. We wanted a spot that’s welcoming to everyone - locals, visitors, athletes, and first-timers.

We’re passionate about building a healthy, safe space in Newquay where people can socialise, meet new faces, and connect with friends.
